wow, I've been following this saga for a few days
makes you wish there was some kind of published "this is how DVDs MUST work book"

@jdobbs,

is there some kind of DVD bible you have access to? since so many interpretations of "the rules" seem to cause so many headaches, it would be nice to think somebody knew the minutiae of the letter of the law of DVD - do you have access to such information, or is it all some kind of black-box test?

I hope it's the former!

thank goodness this program has so many active supporters and testers, and such a keen developer!

The best general reference I've found is MPUCODER's site at www.mpucoder.com. By the way -- in MPUCODER's description of the program table is says very clearly "one per program, pad to word boundary with zero" -- I just missed it. There are also standards documents, but some of those are hard to get your hands on and even harder to follow.

The reason this only happened on "Movie-Only" mode was because for every other mode the original IFO is used, and then updated by DVD-RB. But in "Movie-Only" it is generated from scratch. There is a pointer in the PGC that says where the table starts, which was pointing to the correct start address... but the start address wasn't always on a word boundary. Apparently this one player is the only one that cares about the word boundary. But a rule is a rule, so the player, while finicky, wasn't at fault.it would be nice to think somebody knew the minutiae of the letter of the law of DVDIn my mind that "somebody" is MPUCODER. He came to my rescue several times while I was in the early stages of development on DVD-RB.

so is it the case that PGCEdit fixes the issue on its own? I guess DVDShrink was also correct?
