I'm trying to disuade someone from possibly messing up his computer.

He's trying to install the Media Center OS on a computer not built for Media Center. It's still a good computer, I'm not saying it isn't powerful, my arguement is that the hardware of a normal computer isn't the same as a Media Center PC. I told him he might seriously screw things up. I'm right, aren't I? Or am I totally wrong. Please tell me there is more differnce that just remote interface.

It's basically Windows XP - other programs such as games will still run as before. Media center PC's use identical hardware to a normal PC, in fact you can add a remote control to any computer. The only problem he may find is that the DVR built into Windows Media Center doesn't support a lot of video capture/tuner cards, like ATI.

Heh, he doesn't have a DVR tuner or captuer card. He just wants Media Center to stream movies and mp3s to an Xbox360. Thanks.
