Hi.I take from one friend a movie called.....doesn't matter. Is an HD movie 1280*720p.It is in avi container but Gspot tell me only .3gpp/mp4 compatible about the video and nothing about audio(i supose that is aac).I want to convert to real avi Xvid/mp3 to watch on my divx standalone but i don't find the way to do it.The bitrate is about 4Mb/sec(1h28m has 2.52GB) and it looks very well but no chance for me to play on my standalone. How to extract video/audio for converting in xvid/mp3 using vdub or something else.I try to convert to mp4 stream using Xmuxer Pro but it appear one small vertical line on the picture so i forget about it.I forget to mention that the file can be played even if I change extension from avi to mp4(BSplay refuse to play in avi mode(???))

It is so hard to understand??I don't find a tool to demux (and to identify which kind of codec was used for audio/video).The rest I know how to do..In this Faq I didn't find anything about DEMUX.Sorry PS VirtualDub refuse to open the file  otherwise this post were history.

First of all, is it an MP4 or an AVI? Extensions don't really matter but people who change extensions because they don't understand what they mean... they oughta get a Doom9 DVD backup drivers license first.
as Sharktooth said, there's an FAQ that contains your answer, appropriately titled MP4 FAQ. He even linked it for you.

That's my problem.I didn't find the answer if it is an avi or mp4 because tools which work with mp4 containers said that is not an mp4 file and tools which work with avi said that is not an avi file.So which kind of file(container) is?? Until I install Elecard Xmuxer the filter used to render the video was Xvid(i select mp4v) and ffdshow for audio.

if you can play it back, grab graphedit, throw the file into it and you should be able to see what splitter, audio and video decoders are used for playback.
vdub uses VFW and not DShow, so you need to find VFW decoders for both video and audio.
you can even mux the avi (if it's an avi) into a MP4 file with mp4box (not xmuxer or whatever!) and then extract the video and audio streams...
you may want to use avisynth with directshowsource("yourfile.ext"), load in it virtualdub(mod) and recompress both audio & video to xvid+mp3...
i can go on for hours... but all those answers are already in the forum... you just need to use the search function in the right way.

trying to use mp4box I find YAMB and I was able to extract audio and video to separate files.look what I found:
Track # 3 Info - TrackID 3 - TimeScale 23980 - Duration 01:28:33.469
Media Type "vide" - Media Sub Type "MPEG" - 127417 samples
MPEG-4 Config: Visual Stream - ObjectTypeIndication 32
MPEG-4 Visual Size 1280 x 720 - Advanced Simple Profile @ Level 5
Synchronized on stream 1
If I am not wrong the video file is Xvid.
Track # 4 Info - TrackID 4 - TimeScale 48000 - Duration 01:28:34.005
Media Type "soun" - Media Sub Type "MPEG" - 249094 samples
MPEG-4 Config: Audio Stream - ObjectTypeIndication 64
MPEG-4 Audio AAC LC - 2 Channels - SampleRate 48000
Synchronized on stream 1
For audio it's simple :) AAC .
So :thanks: again for help, even it comes unexpected from YAMB :D
