View Full Version : DVD-RB v1.05: Error 9. Subscript out of range

In one-click mode I'm getting this after rebuilding has been finished. Although the output size seems to be correct, the movie cannot be played via launching the ifo file. This is independent of the encoder I've used.
Switching to a manual rebuild avoids the error message.
Can anyone confirm?

Alright, I'm trying to track things down. As it is my retail version of the movie (WOTW), I can play around with it for a while.
The first thing I've come across is that DVDFab Dec produces different files compared with DVDDec's output. The files are not identical. This is weird.
I'll keep you updated.

Is this the R1, NTSC version of the disc? If so, can you send me (dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com) your REBUILDER.INI file so I can try to reproduce it. I got a similar report from another user on a different disc but couldn't reproduce it.
Thanks.

@urvieh
The output of DVD Fab Decrypter is not nearly as good as with DVD Decrypter and The Mad MonK PgcEdit Plugin. Sad to say, the IFOs are not pure.
Try to rip again using the plugin - see Kill ARccOS in my signature.

@jdobbs: No, it isn't. It's the region 2 version (PAL).
@blutach: I'll give it a try with the DVDFab Dec-processed files first. Thanks anyway for your help. I'll have a look at it.

I had no problems backing up the PAL version with DVDDec.

@urvieh - perhaps running the output of DVDFD thru FixVTS (www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS) might assist.

The process is still running :-). Cross fingers ...

@Rippraff: The complete disk wasn't a problem here either. Main movie mode is causing trouble.
Same again, Runtime error 9. I'll now extract the main movie with old DVDFab.

Okay, I never use movie only mode with RB. ;)

Was it "Movie Only" or "Movie and Menus Only" mode?

I'm sorry, I deleted it too early, I'm afraid. BUT: Everything went fine with the main movie extracted by DVDFab (without "Decrypter" :), i.e. the 0.17 or so version). Almost everything, that is, because the sound is missing.
Next try: I'll have dvd43 in the background and use DVDD again.
Before I forget: It was the "Movie only" mode.

Everything is alright if the disk has been ripped with dvd43 in the background, even in Movie-only mode.
BTW, what does this line mean?
- WARNING: VOB Count Old: 0 New: 2

That's something I need to get rid of for "Movie Only" but keep forgetting about.

Finished: DVD43 in the background, DVDD doing the ripping, DVD-RB for movie only => fine.
But don't do this with the bonus disc. It contains a terrible mix of encrypted and copy protection-free files that confuses DVD43.

Got another one: "Dagon". Movie-only mode doesn't seem to be possible without a hazzle. This time the disk is given back already. There was no copy protection on it except for the Macroviscous one.

I'm working it now hoping to find something quickly for the v1.05.1 release... I worry, though, that it went away when you changed decrypters.

As DVD43 and DVDD don't really get along well with each other, I have uninstalled DVD43. (I made several tests with other movies and DVD43/DVDD last night, and I turned out to have been just lucky with WOTW.)
There's one thing that might be important: I use the audio mapping feature quite heavily to rearrange the languages if one or more is to be removed.

I've been remapping tracks and rebuilding in Movie-Only like crazy... and I just can't get this to happen.... I'm sorry but I don't think I'll be able to get a fix in for v1.05.1... I'll keep looking for v1.06.

Never mind :-). I've just done a movie-only rebuild with the dvd still on the hard drive. I was successful, perhaps because I avoided audio remapping :-).

Regards I noticed that too, but I never jump to conclusions... I just assumed there are a lot of ways to interpret "given back".
Hmmm... I sounded a little like Bill Clinton there, didn't I?

Yep, you have to be careful what you write here :). It's my sister. So, we keep it in the family although she lives some hundred miles away.

You are still talking about DVD's aren't you?

Sorry I raised this potential breach - perhaps I should have done it via the report button.
@jdobbs - although I haven't tried audio/subs remapping in DVDRB, in movie only mode (no menus), I would suspect the only thing you need to do is define a default stream through a SetSTN (if none present, the first stream (0x80) will play, yes?). The rest should just cycle through with the remote - it's really just an IFO thing (VTS_PGCITI) is it not and shouldn't affect anything to do with the encode or the rebuild. Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Regards
