"Codec makers had up to 1.5 weeks to provide suggested settings and binaries for the task at hand. I have decided to include QuickTime despite not getting an answer from Apple regarding the participation in this comparison. Needless to say that I have to consider this as a sign that Apple is afraid of competition, as all other players, major and minor, have no problem participating."

It would be awesome if Apple would respond to this.
Maybe there should be an open letter to Apple as to why they refuse to reply.
In that case they couldnt say they didnt get the email .... cant filter out thousands of users asking why they shy away from codec comparison ;) (Besides I dont think that these comparisons are in any way unfair...)

Apple isn't afraid. Apple just doesn't care.

Which makes them the only one (well, Dicas said they'd look into it and never got back to me).. even Microsoft cares. The results pretty much speak for themselves though, it's not really about settings..

I actually used their webpage to send in my request because I couldn't find an email address. They can't quite lose that. All requests for participation went out between the 22nd and 24th of November, so that's 3 weeks from start till the day I started comparing (Wednesday was comparison day, yesterday I wrote page 2 and 3 of the article).

Since when did Apple start caring about feedback? I've sent them lots of requests on how to improve their MPEG-4 codecs, but they just don't care. Constructive criticism is nothing Apple care about.
