View Full Version : DGindex still hogs Overlay when -HIDE is used?

ya. the title says it :)

either something's gone hideously wrong on my machine (very possible - it doesn't get rebooted often) or DGindex is using the overlay mixer even when i run it from command line with the -HIDE option.

often i need to play video while DGIndex does it's thing in the background.

though i'm not excluding the possibility that something's wrong at my end - overlay is quite badly behaved in the best of XP systems, and mine's far from the best (SP2, 1 gig ram, geforce 6600 GT PCIe if you need that info).

thanks.

Yes, you are correct. The CheckDirectDraw() function should not be called for -HIDE. I'll fix it in the next beta. Thank you for pointing it out.

while youre at it, maybe you could do a quick fix for another hiccup ive found.

if you call dgindex with invalid source and the -hide option, the process never dies. it just idles in the background until it is manually killed. the behavior is the same if you add -exit.

for example, call dgindex -hide -exit -if=[c:\not\there.mpg] then check taskman and the process will still be running. maybe it just needs a -suicidal option.

its a bit esoteric, but ive had some problems with this when scripting unreliable source video. but in any event, great program.

Good point. I'll fix that too. Thanks for pointing it out.

I'm off to India tomorrow for 3 weeks so I won't be able to work on a new beta until I get back. I'll have net access, though, so I'll still be checking in.
