Hey, I have this Dell (crap) Inspiron 8200 from 3.5 or 4 years ago that I am upgrading and donating to a program at school for students who are recieving extreme financial aid and can't afford a computer. Anyways, I am making a few upgrades before handing it over. Nothing major, just trying to make it a little more upto date.
Origionally:
Pentium 4 Mobile 1.8Ghz Northwood 130nm
Intel i845D Chipset
512MB 266 DDR 1 DIM
GeForce4 440 Go
40 GB 5400
100mbs ethernet
1.1 usb
At some point I added an Intel mini pci b/g internal wireless card
I have spent 100 bucks and got a new HD and another 512 of ram
Didn't know if i should try and up the processor... or what exactly I could aim to up it to.. or even if i could find a chip to put in it... all the sites i looked at didnt have northwoods anymore. Also found xp pro sp1 and office xp copies burried in the back of a drawer. Added some free security apps and xp upgrades etc.
i guess mainly i was wondering if i should try and up the processor or if it is fine the way it is.
thx for your feedback.
