HI, i been searchin around like crazy for a long time, never found the information that i need, i use dvd rb pro and i been tryin to figure out how to redo my dvd i have that is interlaced, i wanna deinterlace it, i cant seem to get rebuilder to do it, i dont know, i check the option for decomb ibelieve, and i've tried it using cce and tried it not using any compression, and when i check it its still interlaced, is there any walkthrough showing how to use deinterlace, or if anyone knows any walkthroughs on how to use any other deinterlace programs? if an yone can point me in the right direction, i've seen posts on diff sites about using bob, bob and weave, kernal bob, some tom dll or something like that, i have no idea how i would use those plugins or what program you use them for. Keep in mind, i wanna Deinterlace the dvd to view it on the pc, when i view it now its all choppy, and i been tryin for months but i gave up on the last time i tried to deinterlace, thanks for your help :D

You'll have to encode it to deinterlace it. It's just in the nature of the video stream itself. Good link below:

Otherwise, you'll have to rely on a software deinterlacer (many media players, like Nero Showtime, use them). Exactly how to do this depends on the media player you're going to use: Most have an options interface that will allow you to select it if it's availible. To deinterlace with Rebuilder, just leave "Deinterlace with Decomb" checked and re-encode the project.

yeah if you want to deinterlace you have to check decomb, then do a full prepare, encode, and rebuild

well i tried the decomb filter in the past and it didnt work, do i have to change the file location in the settings? like in :path to Decoder : Decomb521.dll? cause normally its a diff .dll in there like DGdecode.dll

you did try it with compression correct? you CANNOT deinterlace without reencoding

Are you absolutely sure you've got a truly interlaced DVD?

If you deinterlace a telecined DVD, you will get jerky motion. Which you will get to a lesser extent with deinterlacing truly interlaced stuff as well but that's just unavoidable.

I would personally download tritical's TDeint, extract the tdeint.dll to the Avisynth plugins directory (by default C:\Program Files\Avisynth 2.5\plugins), disable deinterlace using Decomb and put AssumeTFF().TDeint() in the filter editor in DVD-RB.

well the picture looks all blocky on the computer, i like i said havent re tried cce in awhile on dvd rb, was going to try that now, but i wanted to besure do i have to replace that dgdecode.dll with decomb521.dll or does dvd rb already know where that decomb.dll file is already located?

DGDecode.dll and Decomb.dll have nothing to do with each other. DGDecode.dll handles the video decoding and Decomb.dll contains FieldDeinterlace() along with other filters.

well sorry if i seem ignorant, but im only asking, if i have to change locations of the file? cause my decomb.dll file is not even located in the dvd rb folder, so i figured maybe dvd rb wanted the location of the file instead of dgdecode?? understand my question?

OH im asking this cause theres only Path to Decoder Option in DVD RB menu Settings, the older Versions i believe said Path To Decomb, so im asking, Path To Decode, do i put Decomb.dll there instead of DGdecode.dll??

Of course you'll need to give DVD-RB the location of the file. The DVD-RB installer should automatically extract it to the DVD-RB folder and setup the file location IIRC.

oh most of the location is just a skin issue, check the ini file and make sure path to decomb is set to decomb.dll

Interlaced DVDs are part of the standard and any MPEG-2 software player should be able to deinterlace, or even better apply a Bob to retain smooth motion.

I recommend Media Player Classic if you want a free player. Just remember to go in to options and change the deinterlace mode to BOB in the mpeg decoder section.

Interlaced DVDs are part of the standard... I asked the same thing at my forum. Here is his answer:

i just wanna learn how to do it, never could figure it out before, ive never been big on asking for help, i've done svcd before and xvid, but its been ages, i wanna know how to deinterlace a dvd to dvd, i check it in dvd 2 avi and it says its ntsc 4:3 and its interlaced, i see it with power dvd and it looks bad, i dont know what more to tell you, thats all i use, besides what programs i normally use to encode, deinterlace is just something i've never been able to do, and i'd like to be able to do it, if i want too

heya neuron2, i think i found my problem with DVD Rb, i was using a regular zip file upgrade, just now i did the full .exe install, and, i checked the .ini and it put in the path to decomb, in the .ini when before on the regular .zip install it didnt have path to .ini, i guess i'll try to re encode now and see if this fixes it
