View Full Version : No Compression and the segment editor

Hello all. It has been quite awhile since I last posted...

My question has to do with the "No Compression" mode and the segment editor. I had this idea that I could cut out portions of the dvd. Here is what I did.

I set DVD-RB to no compression. In three click mode I did a prepare. Now I went to the segment editor and blanked out the scenes I did not want and I saved the project.

I clicked on encode and it took like 1 second and said it was done. Then I clicked on rebuild. This causes an: Error 0006: DVD-RB has found framecount differences between the PREPARE and REBUILD phases. Aborting.

So I think what I am attempting to do is invalid. Can someone verify that statement? Seems like I should be able to do it.

If it is not possible to use the segment editor after a No Compression prepare, perhaps the segment editor could be greyed out so that people cant try to do what I just tried.

I am going to try it again, but use the CCE mode. I suspect that will work just fine. Is the problem that in order to cut out video segments they have to be re-encoded?

Using DVD-RB Pro 1.04.

Thanks!

Your conclusions are right... averytime you want to blank a segment... re-encoding is necessary... at least with the current versions.

The reason it is not greyed out is if someone wants to use RB on a DVD-5 for re-encoding from letterbox 4:3 to 16:9, or taking advantage of the many other features. :)
