lets say i have three video clips, each is then put into its own timeline, what i would want is that each timeline simply becomes a new chapter and also that remote will work with that. any clues on how to achive that? (iam trying to do some really basic authoring - like no menus - here.)

Join the clips before importing to encore and set the chapters accordingly, or (this is a better solution) trash Encore and try some other authoring app.

I am not 100% sure if what you are trying to do here???

But if you wish to have just a basic DVD with no menus or buttons/highligts etc.etc.
Just import your video files into Encore and put them into their own timelines (or right click on the project window and import as timelines),Then just right click on your first timeline and set this as "first Play", now click to highlight this timeline and set its "end action" (from the properties window) to go to timeline 2 and then set timeline 2's end action to go to timeline 3. The end action for timeline 3 can be set up to either loop back to the start or you can instruct it to "stop".

If you want the viewer to be able to skip the chapters then just add an extra chapter marker at the very last second of each timeline...

Probelm with this is its 1) S.L.O.W. because of all the junk that Encore adds to dummy stuff and 2) won't work for prev button.

@Smok3: anything but Encore, I had to use it for like 4 months and really came to hate it. Personal preference I guess. :D (use encore for muxing if you must but build your navigation with some other tool like PGCEdit)

If all of the files are of like video and audio format, another fairly simple alternative would be to use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" to load each file as "Add File" (NOT "Add new track"), select "Chapter edit" to eliminate any existing chapter markers and set only those (3) that you wish and choose "No Menu" - then save as a DVD "package"...
