Hi,
I had a couple of problems with this error and did a search all about it and downloaded a programe that would help me fix the cd's, however the cd was too bad to fix. I had another cd i wanted to burn and it got 99% done but got stick on the titles at the end of the movie. I re authored in shrink but it still got stuck on the titles at 99%. I know from the help in shrink you can cut out bits but I am having kittens trying to figur it out, Is there anyone who could take the time to tell me how to do this?

Welcome to doom9 Margie55
Have you tried ripping the DVD with DVD Decrypter? Try this and post a log please (press L in DVD Decrypter to bring up the log screen).
Try to clean the disk - see here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44907) for further info.

I am very new to burning dvd's and all I do is put the original in the burner and either press open disc and then back up to folder then burn it or if i just want the movie i press re author and drag the main movie to the burn part. If you think it will be too hard for you to try and explain this for me I will understand. I looked up cleaning dvd's when i had the problem and have tried all that w3as suggested, like toothpaste, window cleaner, mr sheen and soapy water going from the outside of the disc in not round and round. I no longer have the dvd i wanted o copy but just wanted to know how to get around the problem. You are in Australia as I am.

Les,

No, it's a standalone program that you can use to strip copy protection schemes that Shrink will sometimes choke on.
Click the Doom9 link at the top of this page, click "Downloads, scroll down that page and find "Descrambling and Ripping" tools, and locate DVD Decrypter in that list.
Download and install. Pull up DVD Decrypter, then insert your disc. After the disc is recognized, under Decrypter's Mode tab, select either "IFO", or "File"; for processing with Shrink, do not use "IFO" mode. In the Destination box, you can use the little folder icon to navigate to a folder on your hard drive; my suggestion is to create a new one and give it a unique name so that you can find it easily when you pull up Shrink.
This will bring you to the point where you can utilize Les' instructions. If you receive an error message in Decrypter, follow his directions to find your logfile. Should you need to post the logfile, select all the text, copy it, and then just paste it into a your post form. Done deal, and good luck!

I no longer have the dvd i wanted o copy but just wanted to know how to get around the problem.
Unfortunately, in many instances, each DVD presents its own semi-unique problems and causes. Stating that you no longer have the DVD probably puts this thread in the arena of possible rules violations...

Yup, in my haste to help you out, I completely missed the reference to you no longer having the original disc in your possession. If you don't own the disc and have it in your possession, it's against Forum Rules (top of any forum page) to issue help and advice. Look to the Announcement located atop the Newbies homepage for additional information.
