Hi, since Comcast has copy protection on most of their HD channels, I am unable to copy much material off my HD DVR via firewire. So I though I'd try an analog capture via s-video. Have everything set up, pretty much per the capture guide here in VirtualDub. The capture I end up with is a 16:9 program letterboxed in a 4:3 window. I'm planning to frame serve it to TMPGEnc to convert to MPEG2. Question is, is it better to leave it as letterboxed 4:3, or crop the top/bottom and have it encoded at 16:9? Seems like it would be more efficient to not re-encode the black bars, but am looking for some feedback first. Thanks.
