Hi. I have a NEC 3550A DL writer. I used a Memorex DVD +R DL disk. Burnde a DVD backup on the disk using Nero 6.6. It does not however play in my DVD player. The disk does play on the computer.
Any advise as to how I should burn using the aboev setup such that it can play on my standalone DVD player.
I used the "DVD Video" option in Nero to burn. Should I be using some other option under DVD?
Thanks in advance!

1) Make sure you have enabled bitsetting.
2) Check here (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers) to see what media your player can and cannot read.

can somebody advise as to how i can burn using nero 6.6?
i selected the DVD-ROm option and then I cannot seem to copy files generated by DVD Decrypter onto the DVD +R DL that I want to burn.
Thanks!

You DEFINITELY want to select "DVD-Video".
As suggested by "CWR03", you're playback problem is likely one of media incompatibility with your standalone DVD player...

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers suggests that Panasonic S35 can play DVD +R DL. I burned another DVD +R DL using imgburn and that failed to play as well.
There must be a way to get it to play DVD +R DLs :). Any ideas?

You will need to open the .MDS file (not the .ISO) in order to burn a dual layer, and it will burn with bitsetting enabled by default. If this fails to work in your standalone, it probably can't play your burned disks at all.

When I burned using imgburn it automatically opened the .mds file for me and burned thereafter. still did not work. I guess i got to give up :(
Thanks for your help.

When you burn with ImgBurn, next to the Speed setting is an address book icon... click that and you can change the 'Book Type' for the disc when you burn it. That is what people mean above when they refer to bitsetting, the disc is identified as either DVD+R or DVD-ROM.
I don't know which is the best setting for your DVD player for DL media as I haven't burnt one yet..., but I have a Panasonic S35 also and I can tell you from experience it doesn't recognise DVD+RW when the Book Type is changed to DVD-ROM, I needed to change it back to +RW on the next burn for it to accept it. For DVD-5 bitsetting it accepts both DVD-ROM and DVD+R without any problems.

@msim
Based on many postings at this and other forums, I'd suggest you try using Verbatim DL DVD+Rs...
