Audio Out of Sync?

Hi..Sorry I am a dumbie here? I recently got a music DVD from a friend in the USA ...I have the VOb files on my hard drive and when I play them with Media Classic they are perfectly in sync....After trying various programs to encode the VOB,s with the same problem (audio goes out of Sync) I turned to DVD2AVI.....I loaded the VOB and established its aspect ratio was 4-3,frame rate 29,970,NTSC and Interlaced ...I used what I thought were the normal settings for Audio IE Dolby Surround Downmix...48> 41.1khz Ultra High and the one that concerns me
Output Method = Demux all tracks....
Video ..I have field operation = None.....

And saved Project....
Like everything I have tryed previous ...the audio goes clearly out of sync.....Have I a wrong setting ...

If u have "Demux all tracks selected", Dolby Surround Downmix is not performed on the exported track. The track is just extracted form the VOB and place on the same folder as the d2v file.
I won´t recommend to use DGIndex for Dolby Downmixing. Cosidering that u´re a newbie u should try Besweet to make downmixings.

Do u play the d2v file or send the d2v to VFAPI Reader, then an AVI encoder, and then mux the video with the audio, and THEN u get the loss of sync?

The only thing that works for me is to use fraps ( http://www.fraps.com ), and capture video and sound while playing the VOB file with a player like powerdvd.

I tried running VirtualDubMod, on a VOB file from Star Wars Episode 3, but it reported a bunch of errors in the sound track, which may be why the sound gets out of sync. The players (I'm using powerdvd) must correct for this on the fly.

I also tried renaming the VOB file to MPG and inputting into Adobe Premiere, but the video is messed up, very jumpy, with no sound.

The other possibilty is that VirtualDubMod or what every program your using thinks the VOB frame rate is 23.976, when it's probably just 24.000. This would cause a mismatch of 1 second every 41.67 seconds.

FRAPS is definitely not the way to go!

I'm not sure what your intentions are.
Are you trying to watch the VOBs with Media Player Classic and it's causing problems - I've certainly had that but I encode MPEG2 to MPEG4.

Are you wanting to just play the VOB files and the audio is screwed up?
Are you wanting to convert the VOBs into a different format such as XviD or DivX and you're having problem with the audio?

I'd suggest encoding the VOBs to MPEG-4 (I use XviD) and follow one of the guides on Doom9.

For the audio going out of synch:

Are you joining vob files together before processing them or doing them one at a time?
There is often an audio delay before the video starts which DGIndex will indicate in the filename of the audio track.

Definitely more information required, especially whether you are trying to encode the video - if not why bother messing with the VOBs?

Sorry, I just meant that fraps works, so it's not a problem with the VOB file.

DGIndex (dgdecoder / dgmpgdec) works just fine so use it instead of VirtualDub. Open the VOB file and do a save project with demux video option to create a m2v and wav file. Then import these into your renderning program. (I use Adobe Premiere Pro). Website for dgindex:
