I started making "backup" copys several months ago. I was recommended using Ridata printable -R. I have done so for sometime with no problems. I had also experimented with memorex -R before I got the Ridata.
I am using a $30 Apex player too.

Recently friends were trying to watch the Ridata Dvds and most players would have problems with that brand but not with Memorex. Has anyone else ever had the problem? I don't want to be dependent on an Apex player to play my dvd. It seems that Memorex doesn't make printable -R. I am willing to switch brands to something else or try +R but I have never tried those.

Any suggestions for a new printable brand or if Memorex makes a -R printable or do +R work just as good.

Thanks,

Coledog

+R media has become more compatible with more players lately. As long as you burn with bitsetting enabled, your +R disk will play in almost any standalone made in the last few years.

Check here for burner/media compatibility (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters).

The media code is MCC.

Taiyo Yuden (TY) White Inkjet Printable DVD+R

There are some online stores that sell fake TY discs, so be careful.
I have had good experience ordering from www.neato.com.
