i am trying to make copies of my kids movies, as the little portable dvd player scrathes them all to hell..so i read thru all these pages, downloaded and installed everything under the sun, started ripping, and now my computer is jacked...

any .wmv file i try to view in mediaplayer looks like it is copyguarded..all the colors are jacked up..so i have un-installed everything, gone back and re-installed mediaplayer 10..but no joy..nothing plays correctly..none of the rips work either..worse..my dvd qatching programs do the same..the colors/picture are just totally screwed up..

i have xp pro SP2 on a monster PC...can anyone take a guess and what the hell has happened and how i fix it..? none of the ripped movies look "right"..but if one of the programs jacked all my codecs, then maybe they are fine and i just can't "See" them..

i even rolled back to earlier video card drivers (gf 6800LE card) and that did nothing...

please help my poor dumb newbies ass please..! i cannot afford to keep buying these disney movies and cartoons..man @ $20 ea. US, it is killing me...

thank you very much for any help..

It would be the nVidia drivers - get the latest version from their site and install them, then when you have rebooted right-click the desktop (not on an icon) and select Properties. Click Settings tab, then the Advanced button, then the GeForce FX 6800LE tab. On the slide-out list on the left click Video Overlay Settings, then the Adjust colors... button, and on the lower left change the Color profile from Standard to Advanced and apply.

They've recently released a newer set of drivers - the ones before gave me the same trouble, and each time I'd reboot I'd have to return to the color correction and reset it again. The latest drivers finally keep that setting after reboots.
