vp7 vs. x264?

using fairuse wizard 2 and have been doing test with xvid vs. x264. how does vp7 compare with these two format? for quality i feel x264 if better than xvid but uses quite a bit more cpu when watching on vlc, how does vp7 compare and what player do i need to watch vp7 movies?

vp7 is very very good, but it has not been updated for a while now! use ffdshow+media player classic for x264 viewings!
