Hello
I have captures some saves from my football game to put in a site and I would like to know what could be the right settings to compress it
I just plugged the ps2 to my computer, captured it at full resolution using yv2 codec but I can't find the right settings on xvid to make it look small and good.
thank you

For web use, I suggest a resolution of 320x240 with a bitrate of somewhere around 250kb/s

Using the default values of XviD-1.1-Beta 1 unless stated otherwise, I would recommend to try this:

1 - in profile, enable:

Adaptive quant.
Bvops (b-frames) = 2 (uncheck packed bitstream)

2 - encoding type: definitely 2 passes.

3 - in advanced options:
VHQ mode of 4 (wide search)
Use VHQ for b-frames too

--------
for the video resolution, I would recommend 384x288.

for the video bitrate, 250 seems ok to me, provided you use the settings I mentioned before.

--------
for audio, if you're concerned with bandwidth, try LAME vbr mp3 (22050 at a bitrate of 56-64 kbps). Since using vbr mp3 is tricky, It would be best to join vbr audio with the video using virtualdubmod.

--------

first, do a 1st pass so Xvid can analyse your videos and encode it more appropriately.
after the 1st pass, go back to Xvid and select 2nd pass. this is where the roads fork:

either 1- you set a fixed bitrate for your video (250 seems ok), or 2- you define your wanted filesize (this one makes your video "VBR", appropriate with videos with inconsistent action, audio size is not included).

BTW, a link to your videos online would be very appreciated.
