When I used GetCQ I started with Q value of 5. Here is a sort of log of what happened:

pass 1 Qvalue=5, wanted size=600, predicted size=500
pass 2 Qvalue=4.5, wanted size=600, prediced size=500
pass 3 Qvalue=4, wanted size=600, predicted size=500
pass 4 .............................................................500
5 .............................................................500
6 .............................................................500
7 .............................................................500
8 .............................................................500
9 .............................................................500

This is where it became apparent that it would just keep predicting 500 forever and I was getting no where. So I must have done something wrong I guess. Any ideas what I need to do?

Maybe you could make a video how to do the settings like you did with AutoQ2?

It depends on your settings. HCEnc is in the beginning of the development. I did a CSVCD. 352x288, br800|mbr850|bias30|WS795|AS102.

GetCQ uses the INI-file you created. Use HIG for creating a INI-file. If you want send me a PM.

Using GetCQ is simpler than AutoQ2. You have to open your INI-file. Setup the wanted size (WS), audio size (AS), start CQ value, % of movie for prediction and check 'force max bitrate'.

Play with max bitrate and bias (100 tends to CBR, 0 to VBR).

GetCQ is also in the beginning of development. I only predicted one movie till now.
It should work theoretical ...

Something I've noticed is that neither HC.ini or Pred_HC.ini have anything set for CQ or CQ_maxbitrate. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think GetCQ should be setting one of those.

I fixed it in the newest build. I forgot to support 2pass-inis. Try out HIG/GetCQ 0.16.0.9
