Can you imagine how annoying it would be to look at this if it was one of those shiny screens?

People always talk about how great my monitor is, and not just in size but quality too.

A heads up for a lot of you out there, don't buy those monitors with glossy screens. It seems like the next big thing but really it annoys me. My girlfriend could do her make up with those things.

What are your thoughts on those shiny computer monitors? Me I hate the damn things. When I first saw one 4 years ago in Japan on a Sony laptop Monitor I was amazed.. and it seemed so shinny and pretty! O.O But there wasn't any lighting to show how bad it would be if I got one of these damn things.. anyway share your thoughts.

Mine is shiny too, but I never let direct light fall on it that can reflect into my eyes. I like it.

I guess that's cool. I never have to close the window though and it's awesome.. I was just thinking about how awesome it is to myself.. so I decided to reach over to grab my camera, take a cap and make a thread. See in the background.. that's my TV and you could see the reflection on it(typical I know, but it's just glass and not super shinny like some computer monitors). I like being able to look at my monitor with the windows open. I love that I can never see myself in it and it's one of the best monitors I've seen. I play my Gameboy Advance SP and I like not having to always see myself when I'm playing it like I do with my PSP screen. I don't know the advantages to have it so shiny.

Most of the shiny LCD's I've seen have an anti-glare coating on them. Mine is a flat-screen CRT, which is just a refracting lens mounted in front to make it view like it's flat, and light falling on it like in your picture isn't even noticeable. Only light from directly behind me is reflected in it, and it's not too bad.

My computer actually faces a window.. and when sun shins on it.. it's like light shinning on a shirt.. it doesn't irritate the eyes one bit and I love it! If you notice in the pic.. the sun is actually shinning directly on my Monitor. And it doesn't even bother me. : )
