ok so i just found a big problem with my DVD to iPod plan... i dont have my iPod video yet but i converted all my DVD's to .mpg format using DVDx 2.3. i thought that that was all well and good b/c i could import those into itunes. but i helped my friend put a DVD on his computer and it got onto itunes fine just like mine. but... he just called and told me when he plugged his iPod in i said that the iPod couldnt play the file Batman (which is the DVD he downloaded) so now i think that actually i wont b able to play the DVD's iv converted on my iPod when i get it and that i need to convert it into .mov then import it into itunes.
so heres my question: does anyone know a good DVD to .mov converter or a .mpg to .mov converter so i can convert the files i already had converted.

any help is much appreciated.

ok im sry...let me clarify. when i referred to my friends DVD that was only on his computer. i did not take it for myself. i only helped him try to get it on his ipod using his computer. i had my own dvd's that i bought and had converted in the same fashion. correct me if im wrong but i think u think i took (illegally obtained copyrighted content) his dvd. i didnt. i want to know how to do that with my own dvd's and show him how to do it with his. if this is against the forum rules im sry and will edit/delete my post.

I hate to ask a question that might already have been answered many times, but forgive me, I've been out of the copyright loop for a while.

Would copying a DVD one has purchased, to an iPod one owns, for one's own viewing, not be considered fair use? Lots of people are doing it on Macs with Handbrake. It even works with encrypted DVDs, it seems.
No messages in their boards on copyright problems.
There must be a PC equivalent tool somewhere.

Don't mean to be breaking any forum rules here, just asking a dumb question....

http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?threadid=122216

Directions on using it at http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html
Don't know how well it works though

There is also a good article on iPod video resolutions
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/the-complete-guide-to-ipod-video-formats-and-display-resolutions/

Another DVD-to-iPod Windows solution is Cucusoft iPod video converter+DVD to iPod suite and DVD-to-iPod

thnx but like i said in my last post i try to download and install videora but i cant.Sorry...the reason I gave you the link to the iLounge mostly-Vidora forum was in case someone there can help you with your problem, if you told them what it is, in case no-one here can.

ok i got videora to work. not on my stupid computer but on my dads sweet one. i just put the DVD files on my iPod and then transcoded them on my dads.
and i figured out how to completely get a dvd to my ipod. look at my 'guide for DVDto iPod' in general disscussion. (second page right now i think)
