I am getting very strange artifacts on playback of my avc mp4 encodes. I am encoding from multiple DVD sources using NERO recode set to maximum Defiition - AVC fit to size of 2 gig.
On playback there are appear a random number of green and blue dots that flicker on and off. If you pause the video, the artifacts continue to flicker on and off and change position. If I do a screen capture through VLC media player, the dots are not present.
If I specify lower bitrate, say fit to CD then there are more artifacts whether full screen or windowed, Regardless of player used. If I use a high bitrate there are much fewer artifacts and the artifact do not appear on Full-Screen playback.
I do not get artifacts when I playback my XVID files I encode or when I use Recode to encode ASP. I updated my video drivers thinking that may be the problem. No difference. When the MP4 - AVC files are played on my laptop ( a different computer ) there are no artifacts.
I'm thinking there is some software conflict because I had a similar problem with my XVID playbacks a few months ago on the same machine. The problem was that the ffdshow codec was being used instead of the XVID codec. When I disabld ffdshow and used XVID codec everything was great.
I dont even know how to check which codec is being used for AVC videos.
Any sugestions?? :eek:
