View Full Version : Media Player Classic - Maxed CPU 2nd Monitor

Just got 6.4.8.7, had this problem in prior releases however. The problem is everything works great but if I take an MPC window and try and play anything on my secondary display the CPU gets maxed out. Anyone else have this problem and if there is a solution?

Sounds like an overlay problem. You usually won't be able to use your video card's acceleration on both monitors, so if you're trying to do something like play a game and watch a movie simultaneously, it won't work. If you're just trying to move it to the monitor away from your web browser or something, try looking for a setting in your display configuration for 'Primary display'. That should enable the overlay on that display instead.

Not sure I understand completely? I am using an Nvidia 6 card. Are you saying to make the other monitor the primary display?

My work around right now is simple. Just don't drag a playing video between the monitors. If I load MPC on the secondary monitor then drag a clip or open a device the CPU is not maxed. As soon as I pickup MPC and drag to another monitor while the clip is playing, CPU gets maxed.

There was a bug-fix a way back, check the change logs...

What you need to do is open Media Player Classic on your secondary display (or drag it's window there) and then open your video. Do not open video on primary display then drag the window to the secondary display.

Thanks for the info. That is what I have done to work around.
