my problem is simple:
when using "smart bob" to deinterlace an interlaced movie the encoding fps I get is around 25. If I don't do deinterlacing(or because the film is progressive) the encoding fps reaches around 70. you see there is a huge time loss when deinterlacing. is there any way to speed it up?

and one last thing: Is there any multithreaded build of Xvid?(I want use the full power of my Athlon 4200+ X2)

thanks in advance

Well of course its going to take more time as deinterlacing can be very cpu intensive depending on the method. There's no way to get it the same speed as without using a deinterlacer if that's what you're expecting. Secondly, which deinterlacer are you using?

Yes, I know the type of deinterlacing he was using I was curious to which avisynth/virtualdub filter he was using. There are a number of different deinterlacing filters that can do smart bob.

I don't know which filter is used because the avisynth file is made by GordianKnot(not auto), I just choose "smart bob" as deinterlacing method.

what about my second question?

Look in any of the .avs files you "save & encode" -- you'll see GK 0.35 uses the dgbob filter.

As to your second question, the answer is available by searching the forum at www.xvid.org.

what about my second question? It's happening right under your nose, I believe. :)

At least this thread has been on top of the XviD forum for some time:
