Hi!
I am trying to convert from bifs (mp4, of course) to avi (or to mp4v into an .mp4 file) and I dont know how to do it. I have tried to use MP42avi, from GPAC but even though there are no problems during the compilation, when I try to convert from bifs to avi with the executable there are always error messages from the system. Does anyone have compiled before mp42avi? Does it work? Does anyone know another way to convert a scene descriptor file into a video file?
Thanks!!

I don't kow how well BIFS to AVI(RAW RGB) works with MP2Avi.
I tried first this old 2D sample from here: http://www.comelec.enst.fr/~dufourd/mpeg-4/mp4/karate.mp4
Works without a problem.
Later I tried some 3D sample from GPAC regression tests. There I got problems if a texture is used. They don't show up in the output avi.
man mp42avi Input Files The current version of MP42AVI is only designed to handle pure BIFS presentation. If the input BIFS scene uses audio or visual media, these are ignored during the dump. It may even crash MP42AVI.
How ever I got no error. What error message do you get?
Maybe you should play your mp4 file and capture the screen with a program?
If you are at Linux, maybe this help: http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2004/03/04/screen_capture_movies.html

Hello! and thank you very much for your answer.
I have tried to convert your file but the same error appeared.
Te error message is:
“The instruction at “0x101261db” referenced memory at “0x00000004”. The memory colud not be “read””.
I dont know where the problem is. As I have said, I hadnt any errors during the compilation and I have compiled mp4box and Osmo using the same libraries (libgpac, avcodec...) and these others work properly... If you said that you have converted at least one file, It's enough for me. I will go on with mp42avi. Maybe with new different compilations...
