Hello!
I tried to encode a number of videos to watch on a stand alone. Used TMPGEnc Xpress. Now, on a stand alone I can not get audio.
I used Lame codec, 128/44100. According to G-Spot, that's what I ended up with:
mpeglayer3 (mp3) (0x0055) ISO/MPEG 128 kb/s (64/ch, stereo) 44100 Hz.
What went wrong? Or may be I need to change the software? If yes, is there a good software that allows batch encoding?
Thanks.

Hi!
1) Do the videos play with audio on your PC from the burned disc?
2) What software and mode did you use to burn the DVD?
3) What is the brand and model number of your standalone player?

The end result is a number of XVID or DIVX videos, for some reason they all have the same audio specifications, instead of usual 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3. Therefore, none of my stand alone divx-players (tried on 5) can play the audio.
I don't understand why I am getting this weird audio encoding.
The only way I found so far would be to re-encode audio with VirtualDub but that does not work in my case because VirtualDub supports only 1 file at a time, and I have to process a big number of short videos. So, I need to know if I need to change something in TMPGEnc Xpress to get the proper audio or if there is another software that allows batch encoding from let's say, wmv to avi, and is capable of handling the sound correctly.

I wouldn't recommend TMPGEnc for XviD encoding. Speaking of XviD, it is a video codec only. It has nothing to do with audio. You might want to try the audio forum.

Last time I looked, TMPGEnc encoded to MPEG-2 video and, I believe, MP2 audio. Nothing to do with XviD whatsoever. Use AutoGK (http://www.doom9.org/autogk.htm) to convert your DVDs to XviD.
Moved to 'Newbies'.

@Goblin
instead of usual 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3.
These are one and the same...

OK, I found out exactly what was happening.
I converted a number of wmv files into xvids (or divx, that doesn't really matter).
For some reason TMPGEnc converts audio not into mp3 as it was instructed but into avi audio which is not supported by stand alone divx players.
I have no idea why it does that. I tried the same file with the same settings using another software. That worked without a problem. I'd really like to make TMPGEnc Xpress do that but I don't know why it does what it does.
And, by the way, after reencoding audio on all the files, G-Spot gives 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3. So, they aren't really the same after all.

1) Perhaps I've misunderstood you. "0x0055(MP3)" IS the same as "MPEG-1 Layer 3" (Your last post is the first time you've mentioned "avi audio" - which I presume means "DivX audio" as created by the DivX v.3.11 alpha package)
2) I'm almost afraid to ask but, in light of what you've described, I will - Did you purchase "TMPGEnc Express" or did you obtain it by "other means"?
