ffdshow Question for .mkv

Hi, I downloaded and installed the ffdshow indicated in the daily builds thread. When I go to FFDSHOW in Start, Programs, FFDSHOW, I see two options VFW Codec Configuration and Video Decoder Configuration. The VFW Codec Config option has two tabs one for Encoding and one for Decoding. The options are a little bit different in both. For ex the VFW option doesn't have a resize option.

I'm curious as to which one I should be configuring? I encode all my movies stored on my hard drive to .mkv using x264. Do I need to use the VFW Codec Config for all my .mkv files and the Video Decoder Config for my DVDs? I use TT to play both. If so what settings are recommended for the VFW options?

For playback, use the "Video configuration", it's the DirectShow part of the FFDShow.
You can access this config panel while playing back (and it's one of the numerous pros of the FFDShow): search in the Filters parameters of your favorite player. And enjoy.

Just wondering which version is recommended, the Milan or Druid build? Also what exactly do I need the Haali splitter for?

Just use the latest version of ffdshow you can find - it doesn't really matter who built it.

As for the splitter, look in the Matroska FAQ in New and alternative a/v containers forum.
