Filter for reduce artifacts and improve quality

Hi all, i want to convert in divx a dvds of Ken Shiro cartoon, i want a very good result, for do it some people say me to use a preprocessing filter like a denoise... i have try to find a good filter for do it, but i don't see differents, so which is the best filter for reduce artifacts and improve quality?


on google i have found this one
msu super resolution, but this filter is protect and non aviable to download...

i have try to use msu deblocking but source frame is equal to processed frame....

Is the problem only a blocky video, or are you looking also for some other filter trying to get a few more quality?
It would be useful to know how do you convert (format, codec etc..).
I've used MSU Deblocking and it works quite good, so I think there's something wrong in the way you use it.

aLLORA VISTO CHE SEI ITALIANO MI SPIEGO IN ITALIANO CHE FACCIO PRIMA A FARTELO CAPIRE ops scusa il caps...

allora, la sorgente e' ottima ma presenta degli artefatti sui bordi delle immagini, non e' che sgrana pero' i bosrdi hanno un effetto blur, uso Vdub e divx 5.2.1 (s epensi che un altro codec sia migliore dimmelo) uso un bitrate di 1150, 4 pass con low-motion a 0.25, i filtri di preprocessing del divx non li uso perche' mi hanno detto che non funzionano bene, cosi' ero alla ricerca di filtri che mi sistemassero alcuni problemi, uno e' dovuto alla compressione come nella foto piccola del post prima l'altro invece e' intrinseco nella sorgente, ti metto qui alcuni frame per spiegarmi meglio

allora per quanto rigurda i disturbi guarda le zone che ho cerchiato c'e' un difetto nei bordi tipo orecchio ecc... preso dal dvd

in quest'altra invece i sono delle squadrettature, tipo il problema risolto da super resolution preso dal fimmato processato con denoise e deblocking della msu

Vorrei rippare i 26dvd che ho, ma voglio un risultato ottimo, sono disposto a codificarmi tutto a 1fps ma volgio un risultato ottimo....
il deblocking lo uso su high quality e il denoiser su hard...
Ti prego dmmi una mano....

Ok, but remember that the official language on this forum is english, so I suggest you to re-edit the post and write it in english.. :) Just use the edit button under it.

So:
1- I think that DivX 5.2.1 is not a really good choice, I suggest you to use 2 pass XviD with cartoon mode enabled (assuming you want an mpeg4 codec.. :) )
2- If the result doesn't change try with filters.
3- If you still don't get results post a little source file. :)

no is a processed frame, ok now i edit my post, sorry, have u msn or icq? for send source? now i try to precess the same frames range of source w/ 2pass xvid (u know another good codec for cartoon? mpeg4 or not..) w/ cartoon mode w/o flters...

Anime are better in RV10 or x264...

with xvid 2 pass cartoonmode and bitrate 1150 is the same, not a good result....

i have try with br 3000 but is the same.....

this cartoon isn't classic anime, with good and defined colors... i think an mpeg4 codec based is the best, for x.264 which setting i need to use?

ok now i have try to use x264 4 pass, the result is the best one but 24h for 4pass is too much... which different from 2 to 4 pass?

2 passes are enaugh for movies and stuff.
3 passes are sometimes a better choice for anime/toons and in very rare case for some particular movies.
4 passes are almost useless.

ok but the slow pass is the last w/filter, deblock and denoise... can i post a little bit of source? so u can try to find w/ me the correct way?

Post your source.
It has DVD Resolution 720x576.
1. Maybe sometimes it´s good to do resize
2. Maybe it´s very high motion -> low compresebility . So you should elevate bitrate.
3. Other people already have told you to use 2 or 3 pass for Xvid 1.1 / Divx 6 with a good (aka slow) setings.
