Stretching 4:3 to 16:9

sorry about the stupid question, but is there any interpolation resizing filter that enables to stretch 4:3 to 16:9 with less deformation? Preferrably Avisynth.....
Of course I am aware of methods including cropping and adding black bars.....I just heard that some Widescreen TV sets (more expensive ones) have some kind of software interpolation that enables to adjust 4:3 picture to 16:9 without serious cropping and deformation and I was just wondering if there is some encoding program/command capable of the same....

Your request is extremely vague.

If you are talking about nonlinear zoom, i.e., stretched more at the sides and less in the middle, then no, I am not aware of a filter implementing that. If you are not talking about that, then what are you talking about?

I have an external scaler that does something called 4:3 AL which stretches and 4:3 image half as much as forcing 16:9 then zooms in a bit to fill the rest of the screen. Perhaps that is what he is refering to?
