Well if Lightning UK! got Macrovision to pay him for the rights to a program that's no longer being developed and is already in widespread distribution I'd say that's OK. He deserves some recompense for all the hard work he did. As long as they did actually pay him.

I doubt he got anything of material value for it.

The protection applied to "Madagascar" was undoubtedly a trial balloon. It was fairly simplistic and very similar to the earliest incarnations of "ARccOS".

I would be concerned about this company's aggressive behavior, as in the recent past. Let's hope that the manipulation of any and all possible IFO commands have been completely explored and addressed by "plugins" and "one clicks" before they possibly try to "drop the hammer" on someone again...

i download the last version for free and was under the law months ago,later came the restrictions.
if they take the rights from this software now,can i(we)upload it somewhere?

So,Macrovision new protection will again be hacked,that's sure.

1) Pertinent laws are VERY different in different countries
