View Full Version : Demuxing DTS?

Does anyone know how to demux a DTS 5.1 file from an MKV with H264? :scared:

First things first, I cannot open the MKV in Vdubmod due to the lack of support for soft subs. I think it's because the soft subs are in VOBSUB format.

In MKVExtractGUI, I tried extracting the audio track as a .dts file but nothing happened.

Any help is appreciated.

Edit:
I've successfully demuxed it by using MKVtoolnix to get rid of the subs and then opening the MKV in Vdubmod to demux the DTS. And it works, too.

And now, I'm told that GUI for DVDauthor program cannot have a single DTS audio track. That means, you must have at least 1 AC3, MP2, or PCM track on there as backup in case the DVD player doesn't support DTS. Is there a way to convert DTS 5.1 to AC3 5.1? Or maybe even stereo? I'm sure my DVD player supports DTS that's why.

You can mux DTS with IfoEdit/MuxMan/ReJig.
You can convert 5.1-DTS to 5.1-AC3 or even downmix to stereo with BeSweet/BeLight.

I think BeSweet/BeLight can't decode DTS 5.1 (with free decoder). See:

You can use Tranzcode for DTS -> WAV and after BeSweet/BeLight-Ac3enc, or other encoder like Sonic Foundry Soft Encode, for WAV -> AC3.

The problem, like Daphy say, is to make a DVD with H264 video.

Try the latest version of AVI-Mux GUI (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Editing/AVI-Mux_GUI-1.17.4.zip)....

isn't it true you can mux a "fake" ac3track (no audio) i believe that's an old trick (not shure though) , you could edit the ifo to make it unselectable (if your player will fall for that).
or maybe recode to mp2 and add it?
