I am trying to burn an avi file to dvd format. I converted the file to m2v + wav format and I am trying to use TMPGEnc Author to create the dvd files in order to burn it to a disc. Everything works fine, I open up the files in TMP Author and get all of the chapters ready.... everything. Then I click begin output, the program closes, and it creates empty AUDIO_TS VIDEO_TS folders. I reinstalled TMP and it still does the same thing. Has anybody else had this problem?

As a first port of call I think you should verify that the assets are okay.
One way of doing this is to use MuxMan (mpucoder.com/muxman), and then check the log (C:\muxman.log) if it fails. If you don't want a menu then MuxMan>TMPGEnc anyway.
Bear in mind that PCM (wav) is large and ac3 (then mp2) is usually a preferable choice. But for NTSC mp2 doesn't have to be supported by dvd players (although AFAIK it almost always is).

Hi!
Only because I've seen several similar posts, I'll ask you:
Did you purchase TMPGEnc DVD Author, or download the FULLY FUNCTIONAL 30 day free trial version from the publisher's (Pegasys) website, or did you obtain it "somewhere else"?
In the other posts mentioning the same problem, the answer was always, "I got it 'somewhere else'". It seems that if you download TMPGEnc from other than appropriate sources there's a strong possibility you've gotten (at best) a non-functioning program, or (at worst) a contaminated (virus, etc.) program

The interesting thing is... I got the program from another source... but it is a very reputable souce that I know and trust. The same program... same disc and everything... was installed on my friends computer and we tried it and......... it worked without any problems at all. I just don't understand why tmp "crashes" on my computer.... well I got the video on dvd so I don't really need anymore help... but if anybody could tell me why the prog crashes on my computer I would appreciate it very much...
Thanks guys
