I had a similar problem as was discussed in this thread:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=61696
The main difference is that at one time I didn't have this problem with the AVI. It played fine with the audio and video in perfect sync throughout. Then at some point it started to play funny: A/V in sync for the first few minutes and then becoming progressively more and more out of sync. This happened with both Windows Media Player and the DivX Player, the only two I've tested it with.
The only thing I could imagine having an effect would have been some codec update I made along the way. So I just downloaded and installed this codec update:
http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm
and that seemed to magically fix it. Hope this helps, and if anyone could explain a little more what went on here, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
