I have a dvb PCI card that pulls in satellite channels. It also has a built in PVR which encodes in raw Mpeg2. However I have an old dvd player by SEG that plays this format on dvd no problem. However it does not play Divx & Xvid formats. So I bought a dvd player by Umax / Yamada MX-105 that says it will play the following
mpeg1 mpeg2 mpeg 4 (divx,xvid), PCM, AVI, JPEG, MP3

here's the link to the site I bought it from.

I received the machine today and it will play the raw mpeg2 format but it is staggering the picture along. Like the encoder is incorrect. Don't get me wrong it will play standard svcd's or MPeg2 type files but not the raw files. Not sure if this is because the aspect ratio is different to that which would be on svcd or if it's something different.

Can you give me some advice on this. Even better can you recommend a cheap player that will play all the above format without a problem.
thanks for your help

A lot of players can now play RAW MPEG-2, either burned to CD~R/W or DVD~R/RW.

There are also some players/devices that can be connected to your PC via EtherNet and "stream" (for want of a better word) your MPEG-2 files from your PC.... Amazing!
