I used to do DivX for a while, but since I got a DVD writer, I now do ripping. I’ve gotten fairly proficient at ripping some DVDs, and I’m slowly getting the hang of understanding its structure.
I’ve encountered a DVD that’s not like the others I’ve worked with – perhaps you know what this is.
I extracted a whole movie (without the extras) and was getting ready to burn it when I found it was over 5 GB. For a movie that’s one hour seventeen minutes, I thought that was unusual (I have one that’s 1:27 and is easily under 4GB).
Closer inspection (using Vobrator) of the VOBs revealed that VOB (id=1) of VTS_xx_1 lasted 3-4 seconds, then it would start over a few times before it went to VOB (id=2). Then it would do the same thing on the next one – and that one was like the previous, except it was later on, and would do the same thing.
Does anyone know about this, and how to fix it?
