hi i have a newbie question just wanna know how do you lower bitrate or make it higher what program do u need to use? i have mp3 ripped from my cd and i just wanna put it in my mp3 player by lowering the bitrate so my player can store more mp3s.btw i have guardianknot installed but im confused which program should i use

To lower the bitrate or to increase it, you will need to re-encode your mp3s or encode at whatever bitrate you want in the first place when you rip from your CD. The latter is recommended because by re-encoding you will loose quality.

I recommend EAC + LAME for CD ripping. GordianKnot has no place here. It is for a different purpose (MPEG-4 encoding).

EAC = Exact Audio Copy.
