ASUS A7VB vs. HP Pavilion zd8369EA

Hi guys!
I'm not starting this thread to know what is the best but just to ask you some opinions... I'm not very familiar with notebooks and with the new Intel processors "way of work" so I'd like to know what will be your personal choice for a Notebook for Video Editing, DVD Authoring and Backups, between these two computers:

ASUS A7VB

Both with 1GB memory DDR2

Seems to me that for the purposes I posted above that the "HP Pavilion zd8369EA" would be a best choice (I'm not searching for autonomy but for pure "fastness") but as I said I don't know if the new Intel's architecture made the processors faster and the GHzs are just for "sight seeing".

Remember that any PC that is doing Video Editing/Encoding/etc is going to have a hot running proc and drive. Even with the fancy cooling mechanisms of certain notebooks, your system will be pushed, and lifespan might be shorter than you expected.

Both of the machines you listed have positive and negative features. HP's installation of XP will bloat your RAM with the dozen or so 'support apps' they add at startup. Get StartupCPL from Mlin.net to disable them. The ASUS is quite nice, but your options for repair will be somewhat limited. I'd get the ASUS myself, but that's only because I've never been impressed by the HPs I've worked on.

Whatever you decide upon, consider a USB powered notebook cooler with built in fan - Check out the temperature difference :

just to clarify... It won't be my main computer at all... just a Travel mate, when I'm away from home... I'll be using it mainly for small tests but even if the tests are small I want them to be as fast as possible.
Of course I'll use it for some video editing and backups (when the manin Computer is occupied) but it won't be something like "a whole day burning components" :D
