Media Player Classic and mvk ?

Hi,

I'm trying to watch a mkv movie with MPC but it doesn't work. i don't think the probleme comes from MPC so I some (stupid ?) questions:

1 - do I need a mkv decoder/filter ? I though i could use the one in MPC

2 - As I can see in MPC (Play->Filter->), the filter used is from nero (nero decoder or somehting like this). If I can use the one from MPC how can i disabled the one from nero?

Yes, MPC does have an internal MKV splitter ("source filter" as MPC options call), so you shouldn't need any external splitter.
But the problem most probably lies in the codecs used for audio and video (MKV gives lots of freedom on this). Maybe it's a format MPC internal decoders ("transform filters" as MPC options call) can't handle.
You can try using an media information (mkvinfo, MediaInfo, VideoInspector) program to verify format and see what codecs you should need.
You could use the Options->Filters->Overrides to try to block some filter or give it a lower/higher priority ("merit"), but it's not guaranteed to help. Anyways the internal MPC filters always will be used when enabled (they don't care about the merit thing, that's only for external filters).

BTW, which MPC version are you using?
And do you have ffdshow installed? It should complement MPC internal codecs to make it able to play almost everything.

I have checked with VideoInspector and the problem was missing codecs.
I installed ffdshow and the problem is solved now.
