x.264 ratecontrol

i'm working on x.264 codec as a project in university as a project with some friends. I'm responsible from the ratecontrol part of the encoder, but it seems that I'm stuck :confused:

i wonder if anyone out there who can help me to understand the algorithms that the ratecontrol process uses. It seems that there is not any documentation related to the subject and my experience with C is not enough to completely understand it

i would really appreciate if some of you can help me with it
