I want to learn about Xvid

Hi
I know this post is probably one of the most stupid and broad post youve ever seen but please try to help me. I want to learn everything i need to know about Xvid and Xvid encoding. Would anyone be able to post a couple of links which can explain these things.

could look up words you don't understand in the encoder or decoder. i didn't understand what VHQ or trellis was so I looked them up here.
