JM 10.1 vs. x264

How does JM 10.1 compare with recent x264 builds (in terms of quality & features)? I want to convert some DVD's to .mp4 (High Profile), is that possible with the JM reference software? What are the recommend settings/parameters? Is there a good guide or manual for JM (besides this one : http://ftp3.itu.ch/av-arch/jvt-site/2005_10_Nice/JVT-Q042-L.zip)? Is Dcoder still compiling the reference software? His latest binary (on rarewares.org) is stuck at version 9.0.

The only JM-vs-x264 comparison I know of (Tuukka's (http://www.ee.oulu.fi/~tuukkat/mplayer/tests/readme.html)) is kinda old and x264 has improved since then.

But no, it's not possible to encode a DVD with JM. It's too slow.

JM -> 5000 frames at 1500kbps, 3 consecutive B-Frames, 2 reference frames, pyramid coding, all posible subpartitions in B/P, loop filter on took 2 days in my Pentium 4 HT 3,2 GHz with 1 Gbyte RAM.
