Written files to HD with Decryptor 3.5.4.0. Tried to burn part of the film with DVD shrink – result Ok both computer and stand alone DVD. Used DVD-RB 0.96, Quenc to encode – result Ok on computer and not normal picture on stand alone DVD. I assume something is not right with encoding stage. Because writing of original part is OK. Any suggestions or thoughts on this matter? Any reply will be much appreciated. Very best regards. Watersev

@watersev
[Qouted]: "...and not normal picture on stand alone DVD."
What's wrong with it on a stand alone? Is the aspect ratio wrong? Picture blocky? Subtitles not work?

Thanks for reply. The picture is blocky (coloured cubes). I can see people moving. Audio is OK, as well as subtitles. Any thoughts? Best regards. Watersev

What happens with another encoder -- say, HC?

Could you please send your REBUILDER.INI, REBUILDER.INF, and REBUILDER.LOG from the QuEnc run to dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com so I can see what might be going on? Also please reference this thread.
Thanks.

also knowing what settings you used with QuEnc would be of interest.

If you mean settings in Quenc itself they were: “Extreme and slow settings” - checked, GOP Size – 12 Max B-Frames – 2; Scene Deetection – checked; Aspect Ratio – 4:3 (same as original); DC Precision – 10; De Muxe setting – DVD (but when DVD-RB opens Quenc it changes it to “No Audio”, though the Audio is OK at the end);
Settings in DVD-RB Quenc menu: High Quality, QLB Matrix, Scene Detection
AVS settings: Convert to YUY2, AudioDub, Decomb.

Hi again. Tried HC encoder yesterday on a 20-second part of ripped DVD. It was was OK even on stand-alone dvd player! Analysed settings used before and found setting not used before - MPEG2 source (idct=7). As well tried Quenc encoder on 20 second part with this setting being checked and got excellent result both on computer and stand alone DVD. Will try to encode the whole disk and get back with results.

you can also make sure trellis is turned off with QuEnc as it has been known to cause the rare problem. also you can test with extreme & slow setting disabled which turns on some experimental settings. having both of those off also speeds up the encoding.

Hi there! Tried HC encoder in DVD-RB and got astonishing results of both quality and sound. Finally I’ve got it. Huge bunch of thanks to all of you. You are the best, guys. This forum is the only relief for the desperate souls in DVD backing up. Have a nice day.
