Can anybody help me to get Vidomi working with DivX6 ?
Worked fine until DivX 5.21. With DivX6 the resulting filesize is approximately 20 MB instead of 700 MB, and the file is corrupted, and cannot be played.
Vidomi-Forum is down since some months...

Hello io234, :)

I think that these 2 guides will be useful for you:

Bye.

Thank you for your kind reply, guada2
I know how to use Vidomi - in fact I used to use it almost daily with DivX5.21. That's why I'd like to continue using it with DivX6.
I also know how to adjust the settings in DivX6 itself. It works perfectly in VDubMod for Example.
The thing is, that Vidomi used to be more speedy than VDub, and it is possibly to do a Two-Pass-Encoding without User interaction. This is not possible in VDub, at least if you have MPG-Files as source, and want to cut out comercials...

Is there anybody out there, who is using Vidomi in combination with DivX6 successfully?

Vidomi cannot be used with DivX 6 - try AutoGK (it can be used with a certain version of DivX 6 which should be in the guide). Vidomi hasn't been updated since October 2002.

Thank you CWR03,
i know, that Vidomi hasn't be updated - but the program still works perfect nevertheless. It has a file calles externalcodec.cfg, with which it can be configured for different codecs. I think that the combination with DivX6 should be possible with that - just don't know which settings.

I haven't used AutoGK so far, only GordianKnot itself. But to my knowledge it is not possible to cut out commercials, is it?

Because of the way DivX6 needs to be handled it will not work with Vidomi, for the same reason the XviD1.x.x won't work with it. I'm not telling you that you shouldn't try, but I can assure you that it will be futile.

AutoGK doesn't allow for any editing at all - GordianKnot via DGIndex allows for one selection to be encoded, but isn't an effective editor. You can, however, use Vidomi as an editing tool the same way you are now, except you'd make one selection, then under Options > General options, check "Ignore settings and use MPEG copy code." Name that file with a 1 at the end and add it to the job list. Do the same for the next selection with a 2 at the end of the file name, etc., until the portions you normally would have selected to edit out the commercials are loaded in the job list, then start it. In about a half-minute you will have individual files in your target folder which you can load together in DGIndex to create your .d2v file to load in GordianKnot.

There's also Cuttermaran, a free and very powerful editing tool that does so without re-rendering. You do have to extract the audio with something like DGIndex, but it's just as easy as Vidomi for editing out commercials, and it can even save the selections as one file ready to encode.

Have you been to Vidomi's site lately? At the top of the page it may say "Coming soon! Vidomi with H.264!" It has said that for two years now, and x.264 has far surpassed its ability.
