Problems in playing encodes in SA Players after XviD 1.0.3...

I used to encode in XviD 1.0.3 for movies that had to be played in SA players. I usually turned off the features that were known to block most of the players (Qpel, GMC, Packed bitstream.. ) and everything worked fine. Then I decided to move to 1.1.0b2 and I was very happy to see added the profiles specific for the "DivX" SA Players but...the encode I did weren't able to run on all the players I tested (Kiss, JVC and Philips). I decided then to come back to the good old 1.0.3 that worked (and still does!) fine. I'm I the only one who experienced this? (Note: I used the DXN PAL profile since I live in Europe). The other difference I noticed was the significant speed improvment of the 1.1.0b compared to the old 1.0.3.

yep i have the same thing with my izak unibrain, just wont play any xvid file created with the beta codecs, so i stick to the stable older one :)

Some new Beta XviD (don't remeber exactly which), use PACKED BITRSTREAM even if you doesn't choose this option (on the 1st pass at least. And if you choose B-VOPs).

So verifiy your XviD with MPEGModifier ( http://www.moitah.net/ ).

1) If it has "Packed Bitstream: Yes", choose "unpack".
2) under "user data" window, check "auto". This should remove all tags,but the "xvid00xx" one.
With the newer xvid build, sometime an other tag, which is a date, remains. Remove it too (with the "-" button.)
3) Save the new file.

Lot of player doesn't read Xvid with packed bitstream correctly (divx with packed bitstream are ok). Usually it just "shake" the image, but maybe it could be worst (doesn't works at all).

Yep that happened but for best compatibility you should leave in the DivX user info without the p @ the end and unpack it p stands for packed im not sure how some old generation firmwares react on that when the stream is unpacked.
