Greetings,

I have been using Divx create since it was released. The software is currenly up to date and I have the AC3 filter installed.

My question is to AC3 sound. When selecting the VOB to be encoded the sound selection appears. If I select the AC3 5.1 surround sound how do I get the file to contain 5.1 surround sound. Opening the settings for the AC3 filter the output have to be 2/0 stereo with PCM 16. Playing the file on my hometheater it sounds like 2 channel.

With those setting does the file contain 5.1 or ??? I have tried to set the output in the AC3 filter to other selection but it always fails.

How do I set it up to encode with surround sound ie 5.1

Thanks,

da_hammer

Are you running a stereo cable from your PC to your home theater? If so, you're just transferring two channels. In order to get 5.1 surround, all six channels must be input into the sound system. If you are in fact using a stereo cable, your sound card is transcoding the 5.1 into stereo.

If the above does not fit your problem, please tell exactly how you're playing back your files.

Well.....Im coding my files on my main pc......then transfer to the MCE pc which is connected to the receiver via SPDIF.

I am trying to figure out how to get my divx files to contain 5.1. The Divx create software fails if the AC3filter is set to anything but 2/0 stereo output.

Thanks

I see why I misunderstood your first post - AC3Filter is used only during playback of AC3 files.

Try AutoGK. It will allow you to use the 5.1 AC3 audio directly from the source.

hmmmm....i hate being new at this......ok...so what you are suggesting is not to use Divx create for coding the file.....

I found this guide:

http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/autogk.htm

Let me try it ;-)

Thank you,

Did you Google "autogk?" The second and fourth results (free-codecs.com and divx-digest.com) will work.

To ensure AutoGK leaves your sountrack(s) as they are, click on "Advanced Settings" and select "Original" in audio options.
