I used scharfis_brain's excellent script to convert a field blended DVD to 23.976 fps progressive, 704x480, 16:9 Anamorphic with TMPGEnc. However, DGPulldown failed to produce satisfactory results for a 25fps and especially 29.97fps framerate conversion; is the stutter meant to be this bad? Here's my source clip...

Play your Pulldowned file in VLC Media Player and see if it stutters.
I ran DGPulldown on your file and it works fine.

It stutters in Windows Media Player and Winamp, but plays smoothly in PowerDVD and VLC Media Player; how would you explain this? Would you expect there to be any stutter on certain standalone players? I guess I will have to author a DVD and test that next...

No, it'll work fine in your DVD player. I don't know the answer to "Why". I do know that it will work in VLC for some reason.

How about going directly to 25 fps using Convert60pTo25p() (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=101505) ?
will it stutter on those players?
