difference between ac3 decompressor and ac3 filter

why doesnt quenc recognize the avi movie that im encoding when i have the ac3 filter installed. i looked in avicodec and it says it needs a xvid codec and ac3 dvm codec, whatever that is. i dont remember using the ac3 decompressor to encode..

I think maybe you should look at this as QuEnc is geared towards Avisynth scripts.

Do you mean ac3 acm codec? Just get the AC-3 ACM codec:
