Hi
I have read many posts here but still have no solution.
I have demuxed sound from .wmv to .wma
It is 5.1. I want to put it to mkv or mp4 and therefore I'd like to convert it to AAC. Or I will choose AC3 (I like AC3Filter features:-).
I found few encoders for AAC or AC3, but none for the wma 5.1. I know Nero can do it, but afaik only together with movie at max 128kbps for 6ch
I would appreciate an advice, how to convert it easily, w/o unnecessary quality loosing (I mean e.g. no dynamic range compression etc.).
tnx. r.
ps: I wonder that the sound track is shown
in vlc like 6ch 384kbps (which I believe is true)
in bsp with WMaudio decoder DMO it goes to matrixmixer in 2ch
in Adobe Audition loads the file like 6 tracks, but one is empty (I think centere)
in GraphEdit it goes out of WMAudio decoder DMO as 2ch
ps2: it is t2_1080p trailer on the page http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/content_provider/film/contentshowcase.aspx

hello redfordxx,
Use Windows media 9 to recover the audio WMA 5.1(editor of flux Windows media) and finish by the transcodage with ADCTools (Audio DVD creator 1.9.1.0)
An example
* Trailer Robotica (720):
- Audio demux WMA 5.1: 982 ko (384 kbps/24 bits / 48 khz)
Transcodage:
AC3: 972 ko (384 kbps/24 bits / 48 khz)

Audio DVD creator 1.9.1.0Hi and thanks, it helped.
Although again - the technical info was like this
bitRate = 1536000
samplerate = 48000
channels = 2
bitPerSample = 16
file size 0 B
although it should be (384 kbps/24 bits / 48 khz)
but when I look at the ac3 iscilloscope in ac3filter the channels seem to me independend....

redfordxx,
I looked at near your business.
My method is not faithful.
The most interesting would be to use Canopus Procoder 2, to pass mode WMA 5.1 to WAV 5.1 48 khz 24 bits. And to finish use then Audio dvd creator.
You will see that is indeed better. :)

You will see that is indeed better. Yes really, now trere is also silence in Center channel (as Adobe Audition showed). So, before, without procoder is was somehow downmixed.
With this testing I found and am really uneasy that
WMAudio decoder DMO outputs 2ch instead od 5.1 (I see it on MatrixMixer connected to it in BSPlayer). When I disable MatrixMixer, I also hear it only stereo...
What could be reason of this???

Have you tried to see with AC3 filter of MPC?
or Nero soundtrax of NERO 7 PREMIUM.

Have you tried to see with AC3 filter of MPC?
I don't use MPC much, so I don't know it well. I played the wmv with wma and the output was 5.1 OK.
I don't know what you mean AC3 filter in MPC, when it is wma. It seems to me, it does not use the external WMAudio Decoder...
Have you tried to see with AC3 filter of MPC?
or Nero soundtrax of NERO 7 PREMIUM.I inserted wma audio file and it showed only 2 tracks...?
Nero 6.6 if it is OK;-)

I've just converted a 6Ch WMAPro (.WMA) stream to 6Ch AAC-LC using Foobar2000 (v0.8.3) with Nero's filters!
Seems to work fine and the audio streams are correctly mapped :)

redfordxx,
I don't use really MPC but rather VLC for its polyvalency.
For All saying you, I have it because I use the "Satsuki decoder pack" for his options, and MPC makes part.
If you want to test it, goes to this address. however you must remove all others available packs: http://yatoshi.com/fr/presentation1.php
But, i don't understand your result. Tried to make like that.
Look at one of the simplest methods:
I chose the extract of Robotica.
Robotica 720p
PROPERTIES WINDOWS XP SP1:
l*H: 1280*720

Duration: 20s

VIDEO:
Bitrates of data: 6500kbps
Size of the sample video: 24 bits

DEMUX WMV9 info:

</ output>
</ streamEditor
Properties of the audio (Win xp sp1):

CONVERSION CANOPUS PROCODER 2 WMA 5.1 TO PCM 5.1(Win xp sp1):

Maybe misunderstanding: Conversion to AC3 is already fine. Finished.
But I realized, that when I play wmv with wma9 pro 5.1ch using WMAudio Decoder, it plays 2ch (result of BSP and Graphedit). When I play with tools including own decoder (i believe VLC and MPC) the playback is OK.
You tested it in VLC and MPC only, right?
I think Decoder WMV/WMA is part of this pack, but you don't use it in these apps...
"Satsuki decoder pack" for his options, and MPC makes part.In fact, I am afraid of packs, coz
1) they install lot of things out of control
2) the contained apps get old... when I need one new app, I need new pack with all other not old apps...
But maybe it is wrong newbie opinion... What do you think?

If you already have some scraps, it is not useful that you install Satsuki decoder pack.
For my part, i use only this pack and I didn't have any problem.It is a question of experiment.
However, if you are afraid to install it, you can benefit from the "Satsuki.NSIS.Pack.Maker" solution.It is sufficient for you just to specify the software (of course after installation), the filters or codec which you wish that it installs.

The method in the blog is use a command line like:
BePipe.exe --script "BassAudioSource(^soundtrack.wma^).SSRC(48000)" - | Aften - soundtrack.ac3
You need AviSynth and .NET FrameWork v2.0 installed.
The same AviSynth method can be do with BeHappy (GUI method).
All do you need (or the links to external free soft) are in the BeHappy package:
Bepipe.exe in BeHappy\encoder\
BassAudio 2.4 plugin (and links to Bass libs) in BeHappy\plugins\ (read carefully the readme.txt)
- Aften.exe last r832 from here (http://code.google.com/p/wavtoac3encoder/)
- You can use Wavi instead Bepipe if you don't have .NET v2.0
- You can use also SoundOut() plugin for AviSynth.
