hi,

I used dvd-rebuilder pro1.01 final on war of the world and starwars 3 (nothing pre-processed)
Ive did 2 movies that night in batch wich wos STARWARS 3 and WAR OF THE WORLD. Starwars 3 wos an excellent backup no problems there. Only in war of the world i see an Black vertical line nexto the left of my subtitles wich occurs on all of my subtitles (only when i played it on my stand-alone cyberhome 402 player). Ive took an piece of the original movie and burned for an test and the black thin line wosnt there. So something went wrong along the encoding/rebuild process i guess. Could some one clear this up for me? Appart from that the quality wos superb.

tnx in advance,

urs kab,

To capitalize on the release of War of the Worlds 2005 this month, War of the Worlds (1953) Special Edition was released on 11/01. Possibly it's that WOTW incarnation.

Then as jptheripper suggested, let kabukijo post a definitive screenshot with the "Black vertical line nexto the left of my subtitles" problem he described which will answer the question.

I would be willing to bet the bank it is not the 1953 version.

Regards,:)

P.S. Checking all his other posts he seems more inclined to recent movies as opposed to classics.

Have you modified the screen size at all? Since subtitles are kept 100% intact I don't see how the processing could have an effect on it... the only exception would be if you changed from 4:3 to 16:9. Even in that scenario the subtitles still don't change at all, but it's possible that they wouldn't fit properly.

Hi again,

Iam glad many of u noticed me hehe. Firstly i was refering to the new blockbuster movie with tom cruise not the classic one ofcourse. Secondly i didnt resized the movie wotsover nor pre-processed it whit other software. I redid the whole movie throug dvdshrink to see if its an encode or transcode thing and it seems dvdshrink has some problems whit it too. Anyways, luckily ive still got my tv card to hook my dvd player on it since it only occurs on my stand alone not in windvd, powerdvd nor my ps2 and took an few screens through iuvcr. I know wot u probebly thinking, somethings went wrong whit the stand alone. Wrong, cuz i took an piece of unaltered original movie and the playback wos fine to my surprise no black bars to the left. Also, starwars 3 (poor anikan btw  ) didnt gave me playback problems at all wich ive processed the same night throug the same version of rebuilder just as WOTW. I hope u enjoy the sneak preview by watching the screens lol.

Discussing the origin of the source is not off topic. If you got a legal source, then there's no problem. Otherwise you would be breaking the forum rules.

Wot if it is an illegal copy or not? That change nothing to the movie itself. as everyone would have itself justify compared with you, then no more forum will exist oneself there. as if you never violate the rules of this forum pall whit or whitout us knowing it. I have already regret that I have presented one problem around that movie. U can thank boulder for that.

I have really problems to understand what kabukijo wanted to say... may be his english is even worse than mine!
Anyway, It would be better for you kabukijo, if you read the rules one more time...
specially the N° 6.
May be you don't care, but helping someone on a "non legal source" or "spurious source" in not only against the rules, but also bad for the reputation of this board. That should be clear.
Greetings!

Wot if it is an illegal copy or not?

When you registered on the forum, you agreed to follow the rules. The rules are there to protect the forum owner and do not exist just to piss people off. I'm quite sure this forum would have ceased to exist if discussing warez stuff was allowed.

Your attitude already suggests that you probably don't have a legal copy of the movie. A quick check shows that in Europe, the movie is released on the 14th (according to Play.com) and in North America it's out on the 22nd (according to many sources, including Amazon).

well, 4 days before official release, it's possibly that some retailers didn't stick to the official release date or that it varies from country to coutry (I've seen it happening). And if it were a group release, there wouldn't be any reason to run Rebuilder on it because afaik there's only DVD-5 releases.

The bottom line is that I have no idea how the lines could appear. The subtitles are copied intact from the original disc.
