I know that AMD's are able to run at lower speeds cause they do more work per clock cycle, but I'm looking for somewhat comprehensive source of equivalencies for all the AMD chips.

AMD's tend to be faster in single-threaded Business and Gaming apps while Intel tends to excel in single-threaded Video Encoding and Multimedia apps. When it comes to multi-threading the AMD X2's and Opterons generally top whatever Intel has.

As far as finding out which processors are equivilent to one another I'd suggest going to the Tom's Hardware Interactive CPU Chart (http://www23.tomshardware.com/index.html)

It would be better to look at this link: http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/11/21/the_mother_of_all_cpu_charts_2005/

Because it's newer, and it has the new dual-core CPU's included...

Edit: :)
